Founded in 1919, Boone Rotary is among the oldest community service clubs in central Iowa. Its members represent a cross-section of Boone County's business and professional men and women. The main objective of Rotary is service in the community. Rotarians develop local community service projects that address many of today's most important issues, such as literacy, children at risk, poverty and the environment. In Boone, local service projects include the "Dear Senior" program, Salvation Army red-kettle collections, Boone Little League and trash pick-up along Highway 17 and on Boone's walking trails. Rotary also supports programs for educational scholarships and international student exchanges. For example, Boone Rotary awards 10 college scholarships each year to high school seniors from Boone County. And, although every Rotary club develops its own local service projects, all Rotarians are united in a campaign for the global eradication of polio. Rotarians have raised over $500 million to immunize the children of the world. In addition, Rotary has provided an army of volunteers to assist immunization efforts in polio-endemic countries around the world. We gather for lunch on Wednesdays at the Boone Country Club to fulfill our commitment to the Rotarian ideals of friendship, fellowship, and service to others. If you would like to be considered for membership in Boone Rotary, please provide us your contact information via our online Membership Proposal form or use one of the many ways to Contact Us. | ||
